Annual Forecast- Chinese Year of The Metal Rat 2020
The Chinese follow the solar calendar, also known as the Farmers Calendar and Hsia Calendar, therefore the Chinese New Year always begins either on the 4th or 3rd of February of every year depending on the year.
Hence, The Year of The Metal Rat 2020 begins on the 4th February @ 5:05 PM, but celebrations are celebrated on the first New Moon closest to this date and therefore, celebrations will began on the 25th January to welcome in the Chinese New Year, as the new moon symbolizes new beginnings. This is also the Chinese Spring Festival day, where Spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere, and new seedlings start sprouting and growing, therefore new beginnings evolve. The banging of the drums and firecrackers we experience on this festive day, is to disperse of the old energies of the year before and to welcome the new energies of the year.
Now that we have cleared up what day the Chinese Year begins, as this is a question I’m always being asked, lets discuss the Year of The Metal Rat 2020.
The Metal Rat brings about new beginnings as the Rat was the 1st animal out of the river out of the 12 animals in the Chinese metaphysics. The Water Rat also brings about an energy of love as it symbolises a Romance Flower or Peach Blossom, therefore bringing in new relationships or ending relationships as we always experience Yin (negative) & Yang (positive). The Water Rat is known to be quick witted, sociable, shrewd; it succeeds as Rats fears failure, and is the first to accomplish tasks, hence the rat was first to cross the river, jumping onto the Ox’s back. Intelligent and cunning at the same time, rats are highly ambitious and strong-willed people who are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas, which often include money and power. Rats also adapt to environments easily and find their way around obstacles.
The Water Rat is defined as Yang Water Rat representing a mass of water, like an ocean, tsunami, floods, and is the peak of Winter Season. Water emotionally represents fear and trust; therefore, people may seem emotionally imbalanced and can experience lack of trust at times.
The Yang Metal Element represents the Autumn season and the item that best describes Yang Metal as a sword. Yang Metal is tough, cold, harsh, strong, principled, loyal, honest, and reliable, moralistic, and are normally leaders, military commanders, emperors, politicians, law enforcement, lawyers, and queens. Example of Yang Metal people are; Queen Elizabeth, Martin Luther King, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gianni Versace, Mohammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Scarlett Johansson, Pope Benedict XVI, just to name a few. The actors mentioned are known to play the superhero in a movie like, Scarlett Johansson plays Black Widow in the Marvel movies.
Health in the Metal Rat Year
The Metal Element represents the breathing organs including the lung, nose, and skin. The Rat, a Water Element, is related to the kidney, urinary system, and sex organs.
As the Metal element supports the Water element making water stronger and creating excessive amount of the Water Element, this year can cause illnesses concerning these organs. We have already experienced respiratory problems in Australia with the bush fires causing polluted air and asthmatic illness. The Wuhan coronavirus which has impacted China and is now causing a global crisis is disturbing the lungs and immune system causing pneumonia and breathing organ issues.
Also, because both the Fire and Earth Elements are totally absent, this can contribute to weakness in the stomach area including digestive problems, the pancreas (diabetes), immune system, and issues with the heart, blood circulation, and overall health.
As this year is a Romance Flower or Peach Blossom take care of sexual transmitted diseases.
Chinese Astrology -Four Pillars of Destiny
Chinese Astrology or Four Pillars of Destiny is based on 8 characters depicted from your birth date – hour, day, month, and year of birth.
These 8 characters representing one of the 5 elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water are formed into 4 pillars, once decoded life’s potentials are unveiled. It is your life’s blueprint.
Every year one of the Chinese Metaphysics elemental animals come about and interplays with the other elemental animals in your Chinese Astrology chart. Sometimes they combine and create harmony, but other times they can create disharmony or changes. When changes come about in life some are welcomed, and others take you by surprise.
This Water Rat year is the Elemental animal and is in disharmony or in clash is the Fire Horse this year. These two animals are foes in Chinese metaphysics and when the Horse is present in your chart either the day, month, year, or hour, it can cause changes in your life. These changes can be challenging and testing and sometimes necessary, especially if you are in a negative work environment or relationship, the year will come about and make you exit from this situation, despite if you’re ready for it or not.
Other disharmony animals to look out for;
People born in the Year of the Rat (1912,1924,1936,1948,1960,1972,1984,1996,2008) is said to be” Offending the Grand Duke or Tai Sui” – meaning you are offending the year.
It is best to avoid travelling towards the North and engaging in extreme sports , especially water sports, as that Rat in the Lo Shu compass is positioned in the North ( to be accurate it’s North 2 ) and that is where the Grand Duke resides for the year. Examples: Prince Harry, Mark Zuckerberg, Scarlett Johansson, Prince Charles, Hugh Grant, Diva Von Tess.
The other animal to be wary of is the Rabbit- therefore, people born in the Year of the Rabbit (1915,1927,1939,1951,1963,1975,1987,1999,2001) will encounter a Penalty relationship with the Rat. As, they are both Romance Flowers, this can cause emotional and troubled relationship with friends, family, and colleagues and to the extreme it can cause betrayals, sex scandal, and extramarital affairs. Example, Sting, David Beckham, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jeff Bezos, Tiger Woods.
How, do we make this transition easier on ourselves and reduce the negative influences? We carry the pendant of the animal that is friends with the Rat, and that animal is the OX.
Animals that are in Harmony with the Rat this Year;
The Monkey, Dragon and the Ox are friends of the Rat this year, therefore, if you have any of these animals in your Chinese Astrology Chart, anticipate a smoother year especially if its your Day Master or Year.
Monkey Years; 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016.
Dragon Years: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012.
Ox Years: 1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009.

The Feng Shui – Flying Star Energies for 2020
Every year certain energies come about and disturb a building. These are energies that cannot be seen by the natural eye but can be felt. We can say they are the “unseen” energies.
The sectors of your building that are affected this year are;
The South – representing ill-health – use 6 coins or saltwater is a glass jar with 6 coins as a cure. No fire colours and avoid digging or renovations.
The East – representing misfortune- hang a 6-piped metal windchime or 6 metal bells as a cure.
The North– is where the Grand Duke or Tai Sui resides this year- avoid renovation, digging or major construction in this sector. Place a Turtle Dragon facing the North.
We respect these energies by not disturbing them.
Respecting and taking care of these sectors of your building can bring about less obstacles.
Take extra care if these sectors fall at your front door, bedroom & kitchen.
The Prosperous Sectors reside in the Northwest, West and North East bringing about chances of monkey luck and helpful people.
If these sectors are where your front door, study or living areas are then enjoy the well fortune.
For a deeper understanding of the negative and positive sectors of your home or business, it is recommended to book in for a Feng Shui Consultation as each building is different and there is a deeper analysis than just the yearly energies.
