5th January 2026 at 4.45am to 4th February 4:04am
We’ve arrived at the final month of the Wood Snake year — Woo Hoo!
It’s been a year of big transitions and letting go. Many of us have been shedding what no longer fits — old patterns, beliefs, roles, or even relationships, making space for something new to come in.
Change has been everywhere, both personally and globally. From moving homes, changing jobs, or family shifts, to leadership changes around the world, trade tensions, and tech developments like AI — it’s been a whirlwind. We’ve also seen long-hidden truths coming to light, and this energy will continue into 2026, when the Yang Fire energy will shine even brighter on what’s been hidden.
Amid all the change, the real work is just beginning. This month carries the energy of the Yin Earth Ox, reminding us that lasting change takes effort, patience, and steady commitment. The Ox is the hardest working of all the zodiac animals, guiding us to prepare the field, lay strong foundations, and plant the seeds for next year.
With dedication and persistence, we reap our rewards. The Ox also forms a half Metal combination with the Snake, giving us strength, focus, clarity, and discipline and helping us cut through confusion, set boundaries, and see the truth clearly. Hidden truths may emerge this month, whether in families, friendships, workplaces, or leadership positions.
It might feel confronting at times, but this process supports truth, structure, and long-term stability. Stay grounded, keep your focus, and trust that your efforts now are preparing the way for what’s ahead.
And don’t forget — you can secure your spot in the Year of the Fire Horse 2026 Annual Talks, available in person or online, to step into the new year with clarity, confidence, and strong foundations. (See Events below.)
After all, 2025 is a 9 year, a time for endings, and 2026 is a 1 year, all about new beginnings. Let’s finish this Snake Year by letting go of what no longer serves us and step into the Year of The Horse 2026 with a fresh start and exciting possibilities.
Nobleman Month
Nobleman is described as ‘helpful people’. This month the Ox brings a Nobleman to people born
- Day of Yang Metal, Yang Wood, Yang Earth.
- Years ending in a 0, 4 & 8
Nobleman is the most auspicious energy, bringing helpful people and valuable opportunities into your life.
Clash Animal
The Ox & Goat are a Clash in Chinese Astrology. If you have a Snake in your chart then you are in Clash with the month, it can fall in the:
– Day you are born,
-Month (6/7 July to 6/7 August).
– Hour (between 1pm- 3pm) and,
– Years 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015
It is recommended that you take extra care this month and carry the charm of a Rat as it is friends Ox with the in Chinese Astrology.
There are no clashes in the Heavenly Stems as the Yang Earth does not clash with any of the Heavenly Stems.
Penalty Animals
An Earth Penalty can instigate extreme worry, hidden dangers, accidents, diseases, misfortune, sporting accidents especially those played on the earth, growths, and hidden cancer.
If you have a Dog & Goat in your Chinese Astrology Chart, then this month the Ox brings about and Earth Penalty.
If Earth is an unfavourable element, then avoid extreme sports, and take extra on the roads.
Carry the Charm of the Rat to keep the Ox peaceful.
Combinations
If you have a Rat in your chart—especially on your Day Pillar—this Ox Month could feel a little smoother for you.
Meanwhile, the Snake, Rooster & Ox form a Metal Element Trine—but what does Metal mean in your chart? Is it wealth, intelligence, resources, power, or self?
Yin Earth & Yang Wood are also at play, forming a connection that symbolizes unity, partnerships, and even potential relationships—but sometimes, they remain out of reach.

Flying Stars January 2026

This month’s Flying Star energies invite us to slow down, stay aware, and support balance within our homes and ourselves. Small adjustments and mindful living can go a long way in maintaining harmony.
Centre
The #9 Fire Star sits in the centre, highlighting visibility, inspiration, and future opportunities. However, it also activates the yearly #2 Illness Star, so this is a month to prioritise wellbeing.
✨ Support your health, be mindful of digestion and eye strain, and avoid disturbing the centre of your home.
North
The #5 Misfortune Star visits the North, blending with the yearly #7 Star. This energy may bring misunderstandings or heightened stress if not managed gently.
✨ Keep this area calm and quiet, avoid renovations, and consider a 6-rod metal wind chime to help neutralise the energy.
Northeast
The #3 Star brings strong, outspoken energy to the NE, which may stir arguments or financial losses if activated as the yearly misfortune Star #5 resides there for the year.
✨ Practise patience in family and work matters, especially if your office is in this area. Extra awareness with finances is recommended.
East
The #7 Star visits the East and may increase carelessness around fire or electrical items as it teams up with the Yearly star #9 creating half a fire combination.
✨ Be mindful with candles, cooking, BBQs, and charging devices. A simple remedy of three bamboo stems in water can help restore calm and balance.
Southeast
The #8 Star influences the SE, particularly affecting children and younger family members. Water energy here is weaker this month.
✨ Support immunity and rest and encourage safe habits around water and outdoor activities.
South
The #4 Star brings scandalous visibility and exposure, particularly for those in leadership, management, or public roles.
Southwest
The #6 Star in the Southwest may highlight authority and family dynamics, especially involving parents and younger family members.
West
The #2 Illness Star enters the West, potentially affecting emotional or family harmony with the females in the home.
✨ Gentle remedies such as a saltwater cure, six metal coins, or a Wu Lou can support health and ease tensions.
Northwest
The #1 Prosperity Star visits the Northwest, supporting achievements, clarity, and helpful people. Make the most of this positive energy and simply take a little extra care around water activities.
On a global scale, countries or regions in the North, West, NE and East may experience challenges this month. Extra caution is advised if these energies fall into key areas of your home, such as the bedroom, front door, or kitchen. Avoid disturbing the land through digging or renovations in these sectors this month, as it could lead to financial loss or misfortune.

Health Tips for January 2026
As we enter the final month of the Year of The Wood Snake 2025 and move into the new year, the energies of the Chinese calendar shift dramatically affecting our digestion, fluid balance, and overall vitality. Here is a quick guide to understanding the dominant influences and how to care for your body through December and January from a TCM viewpoint.
December (Yang Earth on Water Rat) and January (Yi Earth on Earth Ox) both affect our Earth energy, which represents the stomach, spleen, digestion, and fluid balance.
In hot Australian summer weather, this can easily create heat + dampness, leading to:
- Bloating, indigestion, reflux
- Loose stools or sluggish digestion
- Heaviness, fatigue after eating
- Water retention or bladder irritation
- Ear congestion, swimmer’s ear
TCM Tips to Stay Balanced
- Choose easy-to-digest foods
Warm, cooked meals like congee, soups, steamed fish, and lightly stir-fried veggies support Spleen Qi.
Avoid heavy, creamy, oily dishes—especially during festive gatherings. - Stay hydrated (but avoid excessive iced drinks)
Cold drinks weaken digestive Fire. Go for room-temperature water, barley tea, or warm ginger-mint tea. - Eat regularly—don’t skip meals
Irregular eating disrupts Spleen function and creates internal dampness. - Supporting the Water element
Good hydration, moderate salt intake, and avoiding holding urine help keep the bladder healthy. - Move gently after meals
A short 10–15 min walk improves digestion and reduces post-meal fatigue.
