Welcome to the Beginning of Spring, known in the Chinese Solar Calendar as Li Chun. This marks the true energetic start of the Fire Horse Zodiac year, which follows the Solar calendar.
While Chinese New Year officially begins on 17 February (the second New Moon of the year), the energy of the new year actually shifts on 4 February, and we’re already feeling it.
February and the year opens with the Yang Metal on Wood Tiger month, and it’s a powerful one. This month’s energies gives us a preview of the themes unfolding throughout the year ahead.
The energy is strong in Fire, Earth, Metal, and Wood, with Water noticeably missing. When Water is absent, we often see water-related challenges globally, but at the same time, new ideas and innovations around water protection and purification tend to emerge. Where there is Yin there is Yang.
We can also expect exciting advances in AI and communication technology. Think of it like Alexa, but on a much bigger and more advanced level—almost telepathic.
Hidden in the Horse there is Yin Fire and Yin Earth. Yin Fire is linked to explosions, including nuclear activity underground, as well as earthquakes. This could also point to new land rising from the sea or discoveries like hidden pyramids.
The Rooster in the day the month and year begins represents Yin Metal, which is connected to jewellery, coins, and precious metals like gold and silver. Because of this, we may continue to see gold and silver prices rise, along with news stories about lost treasures being found, new discoveries, or even high-profile jewellery thefts.
Metal is also the wealth element for Fire, which suggests changes in the economy. With Fire being intangible, this puts a spotlight on cryptocurrency and digital money, which may continue to grow in influence and importance.
On a global level, Yang Metal rules leadership, governments, and authority, pointing to continued political changes and restructuring worldwide- something we’ve already seen in places like Mongolia, Burma, Canada, and Venezuela.
Fire also governs spirituality, consciousness, and space, so many may feel a renewed spiritual connection, heightened intuition, and growing interest in space exploration and communication.
We’re also likely to see big steps forward in health and healing tech, especially therapies using light and sound, such as red light therapy and sound healing. AI in health is advancing rapidly too, highlighted recently by a paralysed British student controlling a computer using thoughts through Elon Musk’s Neuralink implant.
February lights the match for the year ahead—and once it’s burning, it may feel like it just keeps going.
So remember even horses stop to graze.
Slow down when you need to.
Stay grounded so the Fire energy doesn’t burn you out.
And make time for stillness and meditation to calm the nervous system.
