7th December 5:06 am to 5th January 4:25am

Can you believe it’s already December, the month of the Yang Earth Rat, and we’re stepping into the final two months of the Wood Snake year?

December is set to be a powerful month. We’re closing out the Gregorian year with a New Moon on December 20th, followed by the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere and the Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere on December 22nd. The Rat also clashes with the Horse this month, activating the early energies of 2026’s Fire Horse, so expect a transformative and dynamic period ahead.

We may also witness strong solar activity, with magnetic flares that can disrupt power grids, communications, and internet services. Flight delays may occur as a flow-on effect, continuing this year’s recurring theme within the travel sector and the snake energy.  So, remain patient and be prepared to adjust or reschedule any travel plans if needed.

The Rat is the strongest Water month of the year, and with the monthly Flying Star #1 (Water) sitting in the centre, we’ll feel an intensified Water influence. This element governs transportation, communication, hidden information, wisdom, and the past. As a result, we may see long-buried truths emerging, whether connected to government, media, family, or ancestral matters. We may also experience climatic events such as flooding, mudslides, or water contamination.

As the Fire Horse energy begins to stir, fire-related incidents may also increase, especially in the Southern Hemisphere during its summer season.

Because the Rat is a Romance Flower, emotions may run high—particularly for those with a Horse or Rabbit in their charts. The Rat–Horse clash brings change, often uncomfortable or emotional, while the Rat–Rabbit “Ungrateful Punishment” can reveal unexpected betrayals from familiar circles.

With the festive season in full swing, many will feel the pressure of celebrations, deadlines, gatherings, and commitments. This is an important month to set boundaries, honour your energy, and say no when needed. The people who care for you will understand.

Take moments of stillness when you can, nourish your spirit, and move gently through this busy time of year.

Wishing you a safe, healthy, and joyful Christmas with your loved ones—and a bright, harmonious New Year ahead.

  Nobleman Month

Nobleman is described as ‘helpful people’. This month the  brings a Nobleman to people born

  • Day of Yin Wood, Yin Earth.
  • Years ending in a 5 & 9.

Nobleman is the most auspicious energy, bringing helpful people and valuable opportunities into your life.

Romance Flower or Peach Blossom

Romance Flower indicates a relationship; you may attract extra attention and standing out this month.

If you are born in the Year or Day of a Snake, Rooster, or the Ox is your Romance Flower or Peach Blossom.

Snake Years include 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, 2025.

Rooster Years include  1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017.

Ox Years include 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, and 2021.

Clash Animal

The Rat & Horse are a Clash in Chinese Astrology. If you have a Snake in your chart then you are in Clash with the month, it can fall in the:

– Day you are born,

-Month (5/6 June to 6/7 Julu).

– Hour (between 11am- 1pm) and,

– Years 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014.

It is recommended that you take extra care this month and carry the charm of a Ox  as it is friends with the Rat in Chinese Astrology.

There are no clashes in the Heavenly Stems as the Yang Earth does not clash with any of the Heavenly Stems.

Two- Penalty

Also known as Ungrateful Punishment is seen as a betrayal where the people or a situation that you most relied on backfires and gives you trouble instead.

If you have a Rabbit in the day you are born or the Year you are born, then the Rat is the ungrateful punishment.

Rabbit years are; 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, 2023.

Combinations

If you have an Ox in your chart—especially on your Day Pillar—this Rat Month could feel a little smoother for you.

Meanwhile, the Monkey, Rat & Dragon  form a Water Element Trine—but what does Wood mean in your chart?  Is it wealth, intelligence, resources, power, or self?

Yang Earth & Yin Water are also at play, forming a connection that symbolizes unity, partnerships, and even potential relationships—but sometimes, they remain out of reach.

Curious how this energy affects you personally? A Chinese Astrology reading can offer deeper insights! See below for details.

Health Tips for December 2025 & January 2026

As we enter the final month of 2025 and move into the new year, the energies of the Chinese calendar shift dramatically affecting our digestion, fluid balance, and overall vitality. Here is a quick guide to understanding the dominant influences and how to care for your body through December and January from a TCM viewpoint.

December (Yang Earth on Water Rat) and January (Yi Earth on Earth Ox) both affect our Earth energy, which represents the stomach, spleen, digestion, and fluid balance.
In hot Australian summer weather, this can easily create heat + dampness, leading to:

  • Bloating, indigestion, reflux
  • Loose stools or sluggish digestion
  • Heaviness, fatigue after eating
  • Water retention or bladder irritation
  • Ear congestion, swimmer’s ear

TCM Tips to Stay Balanced

  1. Choose easy-to-digest foods
Warm, cooked meals like congee, soups, steamed fish, and lightly stir-fried veggies support Spleen Qi.
Avoid heavy, creamy, oily dishes—especially during festive gatherings.
  2. Stay hydrated (but avoid excessive iced drinks)
Cold drinks weaken digestive Fire. Go for room-temperature water, barley tea, or warm ginger-mint tea.
  3. Eat regularly—don’t skip meals
Irregular eating disrupts Spleen function and creates internal dampness.
  4. Supporting the Water element
Good hydration, moderate salt intake, and avoiding holding urine help keep the bladder healthy.
  5. Move gently after meals
A short 10–15 min walk improves digestion and reduces post-meal fatigue.
