September arrives with the Month of Yin Wood on the Metal Rooster, bringing new seasonal energies into our lives.
In the Southern Hemisphere, spring is beginning to bloom. New growth emerges, colours return to the landscape, and it’s the perfect time to refresh our homes with a spring clean. Opening doors and windows to welcome in fresh Qi mirrors the energy of Yin Wood representing growth, renewal, and vitality.
In the Northern Hemisphere, autumn takes its turn. Plants slow their growth, leaves change colour and fall, while roots strengthen beneath the soil in preparation for winter. This beautifully reflects the Metal energy, encouraging us to let go or gift what no longer is needed and give our homes an autumn cleanse.
This month, the elements are in opposition, stirring both change and challenge. The Rooster of the month joins with the Snake of the year to form part of a powerful Metal trine (Snake–Rooster–Ox). This makes Metal energy especially active, cutting back the excess Yin Wood of the month and year. Much like pruning a plant, this process clears away what is no longer needed, allowing space for new growth, renewal, and reshaping—a reminder to reflect on where we, too, might benefit from trimming back in our own lives.
The Rooster is also known as a Romance Flower (Peach Blossom), symbolising relationships and attraction. Some connections may blossom with joy, while others may face endings or emotional tests. With the day beginning on Yin Earth with a Rabbit, we see another layer of energetic tensions, as the Rabbit and Rooster are both Peach Blossoms yet clash in Chinese Metaphysics. This can bring about potential challenges in relationships, from the global stage with leaders and celebrities, to more personal matters at home or work.
As Yin energy guides us inward, September asks us to reassess, release, and realign. Whether in relationships, family, or career, this is a month to let go of what no longer supports your growth. With the Snake’s wisdom influencing the second half of the year, the process of shedding old skin can feel challenging but ultimately brings transformation, intuition, and renewal.
On a financial note, Metal represents money, so we may notice changes in currencies or economic shifts. Traditionally, October is known for stock market volatility, so it’s wise to stay flexible and avoid “putting all your eggs in one basket.”
Finally, Yin Wood is connected to the neck and tendons. This month, support your body with gentle practices such as stretching, yoga, Pilates, Qi Gong, or simply enjoying a calming walk in nature to harmonise your energy with the season. And above all, remember to embrace the gentle, nurturing nature of the Yin Wood energy, be flexible, kind, and resilient.

Flying Stars September 2025

Centre
This month, the Star #4 (Wood) brings a flow of creative energy into the household. However, it also relates to the middle daughter and can trigger challenges such as gossip, arguments, and even romantic entanglements. With the Yearly Star #2 (Earth) also present, representing the mother and ill-health—tensions between female family members, such as mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, may surface. Avoid negative conversations with women this month to maintain harmony.
Northwest
The Star #5 (Earth) brings misfortune and obstacles, particularly affecting the father figure and middle-aged son. On a broader scale, this energy can stir conflict involving governments, the military, and senior figures stepping down from authority. With the argumentative Yearly Star #3 also residing here, tempers may flare easily.
Remedy: Use metal cures—such as a metal windchime, or six-rod chime—to weaken the Earth star and calm tempers. Avoid renovations in this area.
West
The West faces clashing energies this month. The visiting Star #6 (Metal) overpowers the Yearly Star #4 (Wood), creating disruption in relationships and increasing the risk of breakups or discord.
Northeast
The monthly Star #7 (Metal) combines with the challenging Yearly Star #5 (Earth), amplifying inauspicious energy. Expect obstacles, gossip, and possible backstabbing. Stay alert to hidden tensions in this sector.
East
The illness Star #2 (Earth) settles in the East, and with support from the Yearly Star #9 (Fire), its negative influence may be intensified. Take extra care of your health—boost your immune system with antioxidants, Vitamin C, and natural sunlight for Vitamin D.
Remedy: Place a brass Wu Lou or 6 metal coins to weaken the Earth star.
Southeast
The argumentative Star #3 (Wood) arrives, supported by the Yearly Star #1 (Water). As both are yang energies, the potential for conflicts, disputes, and financial losses is heightened here. This sector may also stir issues of disloyalty in relationships.
North
The monthly Star #9 (Fire) blesses the North, bringing prosperity and career growth. This is an auspicious sector to work in or face this month. Be mindful not to leave any candles unattended as it ay cause a fire incident.
Southwest
The Star #1 (Water) enhances the Southwest with opportunities for fame and fortune. However, keep an eye on water-related issues and potential immune system sensitivities, particularly for younger children.
South
The monthly Star #8 (Earth) visits the South, creating friction among children or youth. With the Yearly Star #6 (Metal) representing father figures, authority, and the law, conflicts may escalate. Young people, in particular, could face strict consequences, especially in situations involving sharp instruments or weapons.
On a global scale, countries or regions in the Northwest , East , and Northeast may experience challenges this month. Extra caution is advised if these energies fall into key areas of your home, such as the bedroom, front door, or kitchen. Avoid disturbing the land through digging or renovations in these sectors this month, as it could lead to financial loss or misfortune.

Health Tips for September 2025
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), September carries the energy of Yin Wood on Metal Rooster. Yin Wood relates to the neck and liver, while the Metal Rooster governs the small intestines, blood, and lungs.
This month, Wood is very weak, as Metal restrains and cuts it down. This imbalance can create tension in the neck and shoulders, irritability or sluggish liver function, and challenges with digestion or lung health.
Possible Signs of Imbalance
- Neck stiffness, headaches, or eye strain
- Low energy, irritability, or poor sleep
- Digestive upset, bloating, or irregular bowels
- Dry cough, throat irritation, or shallow breathing
TCM Health Tips for September
- Nourish Wood (Liver & Neck): Eat more leafy greens, chrysanthemum/mint tea, and goji berries to soothe the liver and relax tension.
- Protect Metal (Lungs & Intestines): Include steam pears, white radish, almonds, and honey to moisten dryness and support lung qi.
- Gentle Movement: Practice stretching, tai chi, or yoga to ease neck stiffness and keep qi flowing smoothly.
- Balance Emotions: Stress weakens the liver further—deep breathing, meditation, and maintaining good sleep will help.
- Stay Warm: As the season still cools, protect the neck and chest from wind and chill to avoid coughs and colds, as well as neck stiffness.
- Regular Guasha and heated cupping could release the tension or wind & cold trapped in the body, reduce inflammation in the muscle/ joint, and improve sleep.
