The July Goat month is here, bringing the energy of Yin Wood over the Earth Goat. I always think of the Goat as the animal that quietly climbs the highest mountains. Because it can rise so high into the clouds, it has long been regarded as a spiritual and auspicious animal, symbolising promise, prosperity and the ability to achieve great things.
The Goat is naturally kind, gentle and peace-loving. With Yin Wood added in, this month encourages connection, support and meaningful relationships. Yin Wood is like a climbing vine—it gently reaches out, finds opportunities and grows through connection. The Wood Goat is hardworking, loyal and respected, but it can also cling to what feels familiar and be a little resistant to change.
With so much going on in the world, this energy is a reminder to lean into kindness, compassion and understanding—both in our personal lives and on a wider global scale.

I often picture it as an ocean sitting on top of a blazing fire. Symbolically, this can point to increased volcanic or earthquake activity, particularly beneath the ocean brining up new land. After the significant earthquakes we saw last month in Venezuela, Japan and California, let’s hope anything that unfolds this month is much less severe.
