Year of Yang Earth Dog 2018
The Chinese follow the solar calendar, also known as the Farmers Calendar and Hsia Calendar, therefore the Chinese New Year always begins either on the 4th or 3rd of February of every year depending on the year.
Hence, The Year of The Earth Dog 2018 begins on the 4th February @ 5:30 AM, but celebrations are celebrated on the first New Moon closest to this date and therefore, celebrations will begin on the 16th February to welcome in the Chinese New Year, as the new moon symbolizes new beginnings. This is also the Chinese Spring Festival day, where Spring begins in the Northern Hemisphere, and new seedlings start sprouting and growing, therefore new beginnings evolve. The banging of the drums and firecrackers we experience on this festive day, is to disperse of the old energies of the year before and to welcome the new energies of the year.
Now that we have cleared up what day the Chinese Year begins, as this is a question I’m always being asked, lets get into the Year of The Dog 2018.
The Earth Dog year brings about an energy of love, loyalty, compassion, and auspiciousness, as the dog can always sense what a human cannot. With this Dog energy you will also feel the protectiveness and even fearlessness of humankind…. Don’t forget the dog will always step forward to protect his master. But, don’t mistreat him as he will come back and bite- Woof.
Earth Element in Chinese metaphysis represents, pharmaceutical, caring industries (hospitals, nursing homes, childcare, etc), teachers, insurance, health insurance, buildings, mining, technology, excavations, mountains, avalanches, landslides just to name a few. With this year’s earth element present we will see changes in these industries may they be positive or negative.
Health wise Earth represents the central region of the human body, as my acupuncturist says, “it the core of your body” – which consists of the spleen, stomach, pancreas, digestive system, immune system, cells, and central nervous system. Earth is also cancer, diabetes, weight gain, autoimmune diseases, and the digestive system. Other hidden health aspects in this earth is the eyes, heart, blood circulation and brain. The Emotional aspect of Earth is worry and stress.
Therefore, these are the major health issues that will come to focus this year. As, there is always a Yin (negative) & Yang (positive) aspect to all these earths health related diseases, there will be cures and revelations, but also more health concerns related in these areas. So, take extra care. A balanced diet with less sugar and refined whites, and a balanced exercised plan (to your own ability), yoga and at least 5 minutes a day dedicated to meditation will always lead to better health, and always remember to consult your doctor or health practitioner to advise on what is best for you.
Chinese Astrology -Four Pillars of Destiny
Chinese Astrology or Four Pillars of Destiny is based on 8 characters depicted from your birth date – hour, day, month, and year of birth.
These 8 characters representing one of the 5 elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal & Water are formed into 4 pillars, once decoded life’s potentials are unveiled. It is your life’s blueprint.
Every year one of the Chinese Metaphysics elemental animal comes about and interplays with the other elemental animals in your Chinese Astrology chart. Sometimes they combine and create harmony, but other times they can create disharmony or changes. When changes come about in life some are welcomed, and others take you by surprise.
This year is an Earth Dog year and the Elemental animal that is in disharmony or in clash as the terminology goes is the Earth Dragon. These two animals are foes in Chinese metaphysics and when the dragon is present in your chart either the day, month, year, or hour, it will cause changes in your life. Now these changes can be challenging and testing and sometimes necessary, especially if you are in a negative work environment or relationship, the year will come about and make you exit from this situation, despite if your ready for it or not. How, do we make this transition easier on ourselves? We carry the pendant of the animal that is friends with the Earth Dog as this is the animal that is visiting this year.
The Earth Dog is best friends with the Wood Rabbit in Chinese Metaphysics. It’s like when you are friends with someone, this person will always keep you occupied. Therefore, we wear the charm of the Rabbit to keep the Dog at bay especially when you have a Dragon in your Chinese Astrology chart.
Other elemental animals that also cause disharmony with the Earth Dog are the Earth Ox and Earth Goat. These 3 animals come together and form a penalty. A penalty is a hidden danger that can cause hate, worries and ill health related to the earth element. It is also recommended to carry the charm of a Rabbit to ease the penalty. We carry the charm till February 3rd, 2019, when the year of the Earth Dog ends.
If Earth is a favourable element is your Chinese astrology chart, then this is not a challenging time but, if earth is unfavourable in your chart then take extra caution, and avoid climbing mountains, doing extreme sports, and take extra care when driving. The Feng Shui – Flying Star Energies for 2018
Every year certain energies come about and disturb a building. These are energies that cannot be seen by the natural eye but can be felt. We can say they are the “unseen” energies.
To explain “the Unseen” in layman terms; –
You attend your yearly doctor’s health check, you look great, but you don’t feel 100% and then your doctor’s orders a blood test and discovers your sugar levels are high (unseen). Without this blood test you would have not known until symptoms arise, like dizziness, low energy, or even fainting (feel). Therefore, the doctor suggests a cure for this health symptom. If you don’t treat this symptom it can manifest to type 2 diabetes, but if you cure it throughout the year with medication and healthy diet, then your symptoms improve.
The sectors of your building that are affected this year are;
The West – representing ill-health – use 6 coins or salt water is a glass jar with 6 coins as a cure. No fire colours and avoid digging or renovations.
The North – representing misfortune- hang a 6-piped metal windchime or 6 metal bells as a cure.
The North-west– is where the Grand Duke or Tai Sui resides this year- avoid renovation, digging or major construction in this sector. Place a Turtle Dragon facing the NW
The Northeast- represents robbery- place a red colour in this sector.
The East– represents scandal- place 3 bamboo stems in a clear glass vase in water.
Taking care of these sectors of your building can bring about less obstacles.
