AUGUST 2023, FENG SHUI FLYING STARS & CHINESE ASTROLOGY FORECAST
This month is Yang Metal on a Metal Monkey and begins on 8th August @ 2:24 am till 8th September 5:28 am.
August the 8th marks the mid-year of the Chinese calendar in 2023, it’s the beginning of the Monkey month, and it is also The Lions Gate Portal for those that are familiar with this day.
As we enter into the second half of the year where the Wood Rabbit energy is at its strongest (Yin Water rules the 1st half of the year and the Wood Rabbit rules the 2nd half of the year), we will see relationships go to a different level, people sorting out their relationships, new relationships being made, and even old friendship groups being accessed. The Rabbit is a Romance Flower or Peach Blossom and rules relationships on all levels, which will affect affairs of the heart in a positive or challenging way.
We may also see governments creating new relationships with countries they haven’t been associated with before. An example of this is BRICS which is a grouping of the world economies who are made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and there are 40 other countries who have expressed interested in joining the BRICS group of nations.
In August we will see the Metal energy at its strongest as the month is Yang Metal Monkey beginning on a Yang Earth Dog day, strengthening this metal energy. The Monkey is also the beginning of the Water Trine ( monkey, rat, dragon) therefore we may experience issues with the Water element this month.
Metal represents clarity, strength, and resilience, principles, but also can be rigidity and harshness. Yang Metal is like a sword it can cut deep if need be. It also represents governments, military, law, lungs, colon, grieving and righteousness.
The Metal Monkey is a Travel Star or Travelling Horse and stimulates travel and changes, especially if the Monkey is your Travel Star (see below) or you have a Tiger in your chart as it clashes with the Monkey. They say, “if you don’t create the change, change will create you” .. its best to be in charge of the change. Sometimes it’s as easy as booking a weekend away and avoid extreme sports if you’re in clash.
Some object of interests or concerns this month;
- Government corruption
- Law enforcement
- Assaination
- The Stock market / currency
- Floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, in places that normally don’t experience such natural disasters..
- Contaminated water
- Health wise metal is the Lungs, colon, Large intestine- all are associated with elimination- “Gotta let that crap go“ as the saying goes otherwise it just manifests and makes you ill, especially as the Star #2 is ruling the central palace in Flying Stars representing ill- health (see health tips below).
- Countries lying in the Northwest of the world will experience conflict and military concerns as the Star #3 flies in the Qian palace teaming up with the malevolent Star #5 in the year.
- People will say it as it is, as metal people cut to the chase – a bit like the Queen of Swords in the Tarot.
- It’s a good month to go over things or tasks that need fine tuning or details.
We have two strong metal months coming up as September is also Strong Metal month, Yin Metal on a Metal Rooster which also clashed with the Rabbit in the year, more about September next month.
Nobleman
Nobleman is described as ‘helpful people’. This month the Monkey brings a Nobleman to people born
- Day of Yin Wood & Yin Earth.
- Years ending in a 5 & 8.
Travel Star or Travelling Horse
Travel Star indicates a lot of activity, travelling, car travel, etc.
If you are born in the Year or Day of a Tiger, Horse, & Dog the Monkey is your Travel Star.
Tiger Years include 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022.
Horse Years include 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014.
Dog Years include 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018.
Clash Animal
The Monkey & Tiger are a Clash in Chinese Astrology. If you have a Tiger in your chart then you are in Clash with the month, it can fall in the:
– Day you are born,
-Month (February 3/4 to 4/5 March)
– Hour (between 3am- 5am) and,
– Years (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022).
It is recommended that you take extra care this month and carry the charm of a Snake as it is friends with the Monkey in Chinese Astrology.
If you have Yang Wood, in your Chinese Astrology Chart, you are in Clash with the Yang Metal of the Month. It is more evident if you are born on the Day of Yang Wood.
Depending on if Yang Metal is favourable or not, a Clash can be positive as it can activate whatever the aspect of the element is (you can book in for a Chinese Astrology reading to find out more).
Penalty Animal
A Fire Penalty can instigate accidents, extreme anxiety, heart and eye health, blood circulation, fever, travel accidents and delay, and diabetes.
If you have a Snake & Tiger in your Chinese Astrology Chart, then this month the Monkey brings about and Fire Penalty.
If Fire is an unfavourable element, then avoid extreme sports, take extra on the roads, and keep an eye on your heart health this month.
Carry the Charm of the Snake to keep the Monkey peaceful.
Combinations with the Monkey
The Monkey & Snake are best of friends in Chinese Astrology, therefore, anticipate a smoother month, especially if it’s on the Day you are born.
The Monkey combines with the Rat and the Dragon forming a Water Element Trine combination- what does Water represent in your chart? Is it money, intelligence, resources, power, or self?

AOVID disturbing the land, digging, or renovating these sectors for the month as it can lead to money loss, or misfortune.
Health Tips for August 2023
August marks the Yang Metal on Metal Monkey month, where the focus lies on the Colon, Large Intestine, and Navel. Additionally, the Metal Monkey influences the Colon and Lungs. Moving into September, we will experience the Yin Metal on Metal Rooster month, which highlights the Lungs, Skin, and Buttocks, with the Metal Rooster relating to the Blood and Small Intestines. These consecutive months are known as strong metal months.
As we transition from Winter to Spring during these two months, the weather fluctuates from cold to warm, and strong winds pose a challenge to our Lung system. This can make people susceptible to illnesses, including the onset of hay fever.
To maintain your health during these two months, here are some valuable tips to strengthen your Lung energy:
- Protect Yourself: On cold and windy days, ensure your neck and shoulders are covered. Start your mornings with ginger tea to dispel wind-cold from your system.
- Embrace Warmth: Consume warm foods and drink water at body temperature, especially in the morning, to support your body’s balance.
- Exercise Regularly: Engage in regular exercises to enhance your lung capacity and boost your immune system.
- Manage Stress and Prioritize Sleep: Reduce stress levels and prioritize quality sleep to bolster your overall well-being.
- Gua Sha and Cupping: Consider regular Gua Sha and cupping sessions on your back to activate your immune system.
- Seek Professional Assistance: If you experience lingering cold, flu-like symptoms, or a persistent cough, consider consulting a trained Chinese medicine practitioner for acupuncture or personalized herbal remedies to address your specific needs.
Remember, these recommendations are general guidelines and may not be suitable for everyone. It’s always a good idea to consult with a qualified Chinese medicine practitioner for personalized advice based on your individual constitution and health conditions.
